My Quora answer on I am a final-year electronics engineering student. I am interested in a core company. I want to work for Texas Instruments or ISRO. How would I get there?
As you have not mentioned here about your college, so i am considering that you are not from any Premium Engineering Institute like IITs. Because if you are from IIT than Perhaps it is not a big deal for you to do the job in Texas Instrument.
So here i am assuming that you are from a moderate engineering college and you have a decent academics along with some attracting extraa curriculum activities. Here what i mean from extraa curriculum activities is that you must have won some hackathon in IITs, You should be good in coding too & have some research papers on your name. If you hold a patent Record than its also good.
Now if you want to job in Texas Instrument right after your B.Tech and considering that you are not from Top college, Chances are very less. Here i am attaching some points which are only for Texas Instrument-
- Fill your Resume with achievements: Your resume should reflect that how much potential you have. Its should be full of achievements, Research papers, Projects, Hacakthon etc. The more stronger resume you will have the higher the chances you have.
- References: Try to make contact with those persons who work in Texas Instrument. If you have a good contact with them than they may refer your profile to the HR management of Texas Instrument. For it you can use Linkedin, Facebook, quora etc.
- Decent Academics Record: your Academics record should be good. No compromisation from the academics should be at all. It is the first thing which any Company will look. Your Higher CGPA along with good achievements will surely give you an advantage & you will find yourself some step forward from other Candidates.
- Go for Higher studies: The last option here is that you should go for higher studies. If you go for M.Tech, then try to pursue it from IISc or any Top IIT. and try to accomplish above mention all the 3 points there. There is a high probability that you may selected for Texas Instrument. If you are not willing to do M.Tech and instead of it want to pursue Phd or MS than its also good choice. Just remember one thing that wherever you go just try to accomplish above mentioned 3 Points.
Now let me talk here about ISRO. If you want to do job in ISRO than there is no college barrier at all. But you must be strong in your Academics. There are basically two ways for ISRO.
5. GATE: Gate is an all india based exam. It is Graduate aptitude test in Engineering. Its basically for Admission in M.tech in IITs & NITs. Along with it PSUs also accept gate score card and Top rankers are directly selected for Interview. If they wish to do job in PSUs. So you can give the exam of gate and if you are among the top rank holders (around 300 rank for general candidates) you can apply for ISRO. you will be selected for Interview & If you selected in that then its almost done.
6. ISRO Online Exam: If you could not perform well in gate than don’t worry. ISRO also conducts its own exam. Exam held usually in the month of march. The question asked in the exam are full technical related to your core subjects. And if you qualify the exam than you will surely get a call for Interview.
I hope This would help you.
Thanks!!
