My Quora answer on What are the project startup ideas that a 5th semester ECE engineering student can take up?

There are so many fields in which an ECE Student can work. So you can understand that the number of Ideas will proportionally Increase. Being an ECE Student I have worked on some ideas. I will share them too here.
First of all it should be clear to you that ECE not only belongs from electronics & Communication sector. Instead it can be Summarized as a combo of Computer Science & Electronics both. So now you have a well diverse field to choose your Ideas. Lets Explore Some-
  • Internet Of things (IOT)-
    • Its new in the Market so scope wise you have a great scope for your Product.
    • You need to learn Python, Linux, IBM Bluemix in order to work in this field. Actually you can do a lot of stuffs with it.
    • But to make your Product more attractive and useful you need to pick the combos like app+ IOT or any different combo you wish to pick. This will enhance the quality of your Product.
    • Some Examples can be given here:
IOT Based health Monitoring Sector, Remotely controlling to your devices using IOT, Wearable devices & IOT etc.
  • Embedded Domain:
    • Its not new but still you can do a lot in it. Micro-controllers are being used in almost every electronic Item.
    • You can make any new project using Micro Controllers and can launch it in market. But you need to be quite selective while working in this domain because there are already some top companies in the market which work in this sector.
    • So your Product Must be new and Innovative.
    • There are lot of Examples you can find:
Robotics, Healthcare Sector, Machining and Countless…
  • VLSI Domain:
    • This is the domain which is seeking manufacturing Units. There are very few companies which are actually working in this Domain.
    • Still it will be a big task for you to create something totally new and best product which can replace Intel Chips. A Damn difficult task to do but yet not Impossible.
      • You will need a huge capital to set this domain Industry.
    • Other Miscellaneous Domains:
      • The above mention sectors demands Huge capital to invest for production. But there are still some field in which you can launch your project in low cost.
      • MATLAB, LABVIEW, PSPICE, Antenna Designing these are some fields which are totally Software related. You can create some projects in it too according to Customers demand. But demand of this type of work is quite low compare to above mentions sectors.
      Now i will talk here about some Computer Science related domains:
      • App Development:
        • Seriously it can be a treasure of money for you. A very hot trending field in the market. You can earn a huge amount of money. You need a less capital for it infact zero capital. You can make apps from your home too. You need only one laptop and a wi-fi connection.

        • Web Development: Same as app development. Demand is too high. You need to learn some web languages like HTML, CSS, Java Script, Bootstrap, Php etc. and you earn a lot.
    • Database Management Sector:
      • This can be considered as a part of web and app development. But sometimes people search for specifically Database creator.
So, these are some field in which you can work and launch your product. I have also done work in Web development Sector & Embedded domain sector. I can tell you that once you will peak your interested domain & will start to work, you will enjoy your work a lot. So pick your favorite domain and make your dreams comes true.
