Have you ever thought that how Chips are fabricated? How your mobile phone works? How you can see the live match b/w India and Pakistan from England at your home on your tv? How robots are Manufactured?
These are the some of the questions which can excite you about your upcoming journey of four years. Believe me you will learn some of the best fascinating things in ECE. I am now going to discuss some of the course material which you will learn.
  • Network : You will learn this subject in your 2nd year. I am not talking here about first year because 1st year have common subjects for all branches. So you will not learn anything special their. You will only come to know about each subject in brief in your first year.
    • In network you will learn different methods of solving the networks. You will learn how current & voltage are distributed in complex circuits which consist of multiple branches. You will learn two-port networks.
  • Signals & Systems: One of the best subject of ECE. In it you will learn about the different type of signals. You will also do the time domain and frequency domain analysis of these signals. This subject is very important because it holds the basics of 3–4 subjects.
  • Fundamental of electronics devices: This subject is more theoretical. It will teach you about the basics. You will learn about bonds, electron concentration, holes concentration, Conductivity , different types of diodes etc. in it.
  • Digital Electronics: In this subject you will learn about the digital domain of electrons. You will learn how memories work. How RAM, ROM works. you will learn how memories are built. In technical terms you will learn about Flip flops, Latch, Counters etc.
  • Analog Electronics: Very vast subject. Simply you will learn about transistors, amplifiers, oscillators etc. You will learn how transistors works. How they amplify signals. Transistor have a big role in electronics. So its very important subject.
  • Electromagnetic field theory: This subject will simply reminds you Gauss theorem and coulomb's law. You will learn maxwell’s equation in it. A very interesting subject which needs imagination power for understanding.
  • VLSI: This subject is purely theoretical. It will teach you about the different process involved in IC fabrication. Although it is theoretical subject yet it is interesting.
    • VLSI have another part in curriculum. Which is purely numerical & deals with transistors.
  • Wireless communication: You will study about different wireless technologies and how they work. Their frequency bands and how different parameters associated with them.
  • Communication: It has two parts Analog & Digital . In analog communication you will study about different analog modulation techniques and different receivers & In digital communication you will study about different digital modulation techniques, Error correction codes etc.
  • Antenna & Microwave: It will teach you different type of antennas which are used for propagation. Along with it you will study about microwaves. You will study how microwaves are generated & how they work. You will understand how Owen works.
  • Control System: Another beautiful subject. you can understand it easily if you have studies signals very well. You will study about different stability conditions,when the system is stable when it is not etc.
  • Data Structure: Although it is not the core ECE Subject but it is very important subject. You will study about different algorithms for sorting, searching etc. You will learn some new concepts about stacks etc. Those who want to make their career in IT field, should understand this subject very well.
These are the subjects which you will study in your under graduation if you are from ECE. All subjects are equally important and interesting as well.
