What are the differences and similarities between CSE and ECE?

“Difference & similarities both are up to the individual that at what extent he want to learn.”
I will start here with similarities.
See either it’s ECE or CSE both are Considered as one of the best Branches and elected by mostly Top Rankers. Now lets dive and find that what is similar in these two branches-
  • Programming: It is something that is Common between both the branches. While one might argue that CSE is totally related with programming while ECE is not. So as i said earlier that it is upto the student that how much he want to learn. If i talk here only in reference of syllabus than ECE student only have to studies C, C++ as a computer programming. But i have seen some students who learn Python, HTML, CSS, Java Script, Big data, Java etc. despite belong to the ECE Branch.
    • I can give my example as well that i am an ECE student but i learn HTML, CSS, MySql by itself and created my website. So its totally depend on Individual that how much he is hungry for learning.
    • On the other hand for CSE student i will say that they can also learn some software courses of ECE students like Matlab, Labview, Embedded etc. It will surely Enhance your skills & You will be considered on top among the bunch of students.
  • Job Profile: It can also be same but not certain. If an ECE graduate works in IT industry than he might have the same job profile which the CSE students may have.
  • Academics: Academics wise ECE students have to study some of the subjects of CSE students.
  • Now lets talk about Differences in these two branches:
    • Job Package: It may be huge. If we check out some states of Premium colleges of India than we find that highest Salary package is mostly grabbed by CSE students. But if we talk here in terms of average than too CSE students are ahead than ECE students. And this difference increases on when we check states in Premium Colleges. (Note: I am assuming here that students from both the branches are doing their core jobs)
    • Job Location: ECE student in India mostly work in Bangalore city because mostly Companies which belongs to Electronics domain are in Banalore besides it they might also get job in Noida and other cities while CSE graduates can find job all across the India in any city because CSE based companies are not commulated on any particular cities.
    • Government job Prospective: Sorry for CSE students because their Stream is not available in IES exam. But students from Electronics & Communication can easily apply for this Exam. CSE Students can apply too but they have to give this exam with some other stream.
So, these are some of the basic differences and similarities between ECE & CSE branch.
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Quora answer on I am a final-year electronics engineering student. I am interested in a core company. I want to work for Texas Instruments or ISRO. How would I get there?

As you have not mentioned here about your college, so i am considering that you are not from any Premium Engineering Institute like IITs. Because if you are from IIT than Perhaps it is not a big deal for you to do the job in Texas Instrument. So here i am assuming that you are from a moderate engineering college and you have a decent academics along with some attracting  extraa curriculum activities . Here what i mean from extraa curriculum activities is that you must have won some hackathon in IITs, You should be good in coding too & have some research papers on your name. If you hold a patent Record than its also good. Now if you want to job in Texas Instrument right after your B.Tech and considering that you are not from Top college, Chances are very less. Here i am attaching some points which are only  for Texas Instrument - Fill your Resume with achievements:  Your resume should reflect that how much potential you have. Its should be full of achievements, Resea
