When do the applications for a summer internship at IIT open?

Application Process for Internships in most IITs & NITs starts around January -February each year. Most of the colleges open their portal about this time. But some IITs open their portal in march too. I still can remember that i had to wait longer time for IIT-Jodhpur application Portal.
I will personally recommend you too apply in most of the IITs/NITs if you are meeting the eligibility Criteria. Except IIT Delhi Internship Programme (GIPEDI) all are free to apply. IIT delhi charges some nominal fees.
Not only IITs/NITs actually most of the universities including foreign Universities too starts their application process in the January Month. So i will suggest you to keep eyeing on those opportunities too. I am providing some links here which will be quite helpful for you.
You should visit these sites on a frequent basis. So that you never miss any important notification from their side. And yes most of the application form required resume. Either you will find a form in which you will have to fill your entire details (Projects, skills, qualifications etc.) or they will ask you to upload your resume.
