How do I prepare for GATE 2018 (ECE) without coaching? If I start now can I complete everything?

“It’s never too late to start”.
Preparing for Gate is almost 6–9 Month job. One can Easily fetch a good rank in this Tenure. The most Important thing while Preparing for any Competitive Exam is that you must follow your Schedule on daily basis. Now coming to  point as i am too preparing for Gate (2018) EC. I have not joined any coaching Institute yet and nor in mood to join. So here i am going to share some of the points which i usually follows:
  • Refer to Only standard Books:
Gate exam basically focus on your Concepts and basics. They only test that How much you are aware about the Concepts and Basics. So for it Standard Books play a significant role. Follow Standard books for Each subject. And try to Understand the Concepts instead of learning them. Another Advantage of using Standard Book is that you can find some good Numericals too.
  • Mark the Topics:
As if you have a less time for Preparation than simply try to read only those topics which are in Gate Syllabus. Don’t Even think to cover those topics too which are not in Gate Syllabus. I have found some peoples who usually try to cover all the topics irrespective of whether it is in syllabus or not. So just check the syllabus and than read according to that.
  • Make a Perfect Time Table:
Its very Important to have a perfect time table. In time table it should be clearly noted that which subject has to complete in how many days. For Example you can note that Analog Electronics have to cover in 18 days. EMFT Have to cover in 10 days. Meansyou have to assign days according to the Weightage of subjects. Try to cover the Entire Syllabus with in 4–5 Months.
  • Revise Regularly:
To learn the things takes a lot of time but it only takes a few days to forget them. So its very Important to Revise all those Concepts which you have learned. In your Every Day schedule try to reserve at least 2–3 Hours for Revision. While revision try to solve those question which you could not solve first time or face difficulty somewhere. Revise your Concepts. And try to solve some questions.
  • Make Handwritten Notes:
Handwritten Notes always play a key role. It will surely help you when you will be revising any topic. When you are studying a new Concept than note the summery of it in your note book. So in this way you can Prepare Your own Notes. Which will be quite useful during Last times.
  • NPTEL Lectures:
Its available on Youtube and these are free of cost. If you find any difficulty on any topic you can watch the Video Lecture of it on NPTEL. These Lectures are Delivered by IIT Professors. And you can learn quite new things on it.
  • Join Test Series
Its very Important in order to Analyse your Performance. Test series helps you a lot. You will feel the real Environment like exam. After tests you can analyse that which topics you need to study again. You will learn some New Concepts. And over it all you will find that how much you are prepared before the D day.
  • Online Resources:
You can use some Online Resources too for your Preparation. You can give some free Mock Tests on different Coaching Websites. You can watch some videos on NPTEL if you find difficulty in any Topic. You can download some apps from Play store on which you can find some really good questions.
So in this way you can Prepare for Gate. These are some of the points which I think surely will help you.

My Quora answer on I’m a 3rd year ECE student interested in programming and networking. Should I go in for a network admin or embedded software?

Its quite common Dilemma among the ECE Undergraduates. Infact i know some of my seniors who did their M.Tech in different specialization & doing work in some other field. So, first of all its up to you That in which field you want to make your career. I will suggest you if you have ardent interest in any of the field then choose that field. So you can enjoy your work and make significantly growth in your career. Now here i am providing an comparison between these two on different parameters- Salary-  From salary point of view embedded field (Software Engineer, Developer, Coder ) dominates somewhere over Network administration field (DevOps, Ops, SRE etc). But the difference is not too much. But it is not always certain. Salary also depend upon timing, Location, Personal Skills and much more. you can check these two links to check the salary of these two fields- Salary: Network Administrator Salary: Embedded Software Engineer 2.  Pressure of work: Network a...

What are the simple businesses for startups this year?

There are so many ideas on which work can be carried out & now a days most of the graduates are working on these ideas. But the important thing here is that  in which field your ardent interest falls . You can start working in any field, You could also have a fantastic idea but if your interest does’t fall in that then you will sabotage it quite easily. Never think that your idea is quite common and any one can steal it . No not at all. Let us suppose For a moment why anyone have not produced yet another google/facebook/apple etc despite we have one of the best programmers all across the world. Because of their unique selling property. Its the quality of your product which anyone can not produce. And you can only bring that quality in your product if you do your work with full interest. So Idea could be anything but make sure that you have lot of interest in that. So when you will work on that idea then it will create the history.  Here i will suggest some of t...

What are the types of sensors that can be used to detect the presence fishes or objects at underwater?

Sonar (Sound Navigation and Ranging): It is a Technique that can be used to communicate, Detect Objects or to navigate under the Surface of water. It is of Basically two Types: Active Sonar & Passive sonar . Sonars Basically works from Infrasonic to above a Megahertz frequency Range. 405 nanometer Blue Laser: You can use it too. But you need to use Epoxy Potting Compound to Waterproof the Module. For extended Coverage you can split the laser beam using a parallel prism and than can use  Photodarlington  as a sensing element. Mount the sensing element Close to the laser. You can put a Violet-blue gel filter too to improve the Selectivity. Laser+Sensor Combination  approaches any reflective or dispersive Surface, The intensity of blue light incident on the  phototransistor  Increases. Thanks!!!!!!!!
