Hello Readers,
I am Back again. Writing is my Hobby and i usually try to write everything which can help the peoples. Today i am here with a very Important Topic. Every Engineering student have surly heard about it “Internships”. Yes it is the topic for the day. we all know that how much Important it is for the career of a Engineering students.
While Writing this Post I can Remember a Conversion of mine with my friend Joy. i was working on my Project. When my vacations was near to End, i visited to my hometown for some Refreshment before the starting of new Semester. My friend Joy meets me there. We have some Formal Conversation there. Joy was in his 3rd that time and was from Tier 3 College. So Meanwhile in the Conversation i suddenly ask from the joy about his Internship Experience. Joy was a decent student and had a very strong resume despite from belong to tier 3 college. But he told me that he was unaware about the different Opportunities of Internships. He don’t had any option at that time. Despite having a good resume he could’t apply to any company due to the lack of Knowledge. So he just did a formality. And applied to a company where he only need to visit 5–6 days in a month and then they gave him a training Certificate. And this is how he shrinks his career. He could do a very well stipend based Internship but lack of Knowledge resultant into a disaster.
So that’s why i Decided to write a post on this Topic. So the maximum number of students can Know about that how to apply for Internships in different firms? From where to apply? Requirements? & like so many other Things.
So Let’s Start to Dive in:
Actually Internships can be of different types like Research based Internships/ Industrial Internship/ Remote Internships and many More. But i will explain them all together here. And will share that how you can avail them.
  • Research Internships: Almost all the Top colleges of India Organizes Internships Programs in the summers and Winters. These Internships are Usually Research Based Internships. You will get stipend For you work. It is usually from 30–60 days long. Students can avail these Internships in their 2nd year too. But to be select for these Internships the Most Important criteria is that you should have a Good GPA in your academics. You must have some Project work. So you can be easily Shortlisted for these Internships. If you are from a Good College than it will add benefit in your Profile.
  • Industrial Internships: These Internships play a significant role in the Career of anyone. These are little bit hard to find but ultimately all the organizations select those Interns which are capable of doing a job. You can earn a handsome amount of stipend too. If you are from Tier 1 Colleges means if you have a “IIT” Tag than you can easily selected for the Interviews Round compare to Others. For those who are from Tier 3 Colleges remember only your Resume can shortlist you for the Interviews. And for that your Resume must be full with lot of Activities, Projects, Hackathons etc. For the Interviews your concepts must be clean and you must have the clear idea of your projects whatever you have did. They can ask the questions from it.
    • How to apply? Now again the most Important question comes here is that how to apply for it? There are so many Platforms Available just you only need to Utilize it.
      • Angel List: Angel List is a website where you can easily register Yourself and can apply for Internships in different Startups Companies. You can find their Requirement, Tenure, Stipend all the information on the website Itself.
      • Linkedin: This is too a very good Platform to find out the Internships. Try to Contact with the higher Authorities of different firms and send them your resume.
      • Quora: Quora itself is a good platform for Internships. You can message to the higher Authorities here too and who knows that you may get a internship Offers from them.
      • Career Section: Try to Visit the career section of different firms and apply for the Internships their. If you will be shortlisted than you will get notified by them.
  • International Internships: International Internships are good in itself. Their are so many advantages of doing it. If you may get a chance to do it than it can shape your career. All the expenses are bear by organizing institutes. Mostly these Internships are carried Out by Universities. But their selection Criteria is very Tough. This is i feel not for tier 3 College Students. Because the first thing they see is your College and than your Resume and other things.
    • How to apply? Again its too a online totally. You need to visit their site and than fill out the form. Its simple. The only thing students don’t know is that which are those sites. So here i am Listing some sites:
    • Taiwan International Graduate Program – International Internship Program
    • IST Austria Internship Program
    • NASA LPI Summer Internship Program
    • Max-Plank Institute for Software Systems Internship Program
    • Robotics Institute Summer Scholars (RISS) CMU Internship
  • By mailing the Professors: This is also a type of Research based Internships but the only difference here is that you can use this only for those Institutes which does’t provide any online summer Internships Registration Portal. Like i do for IIT-BHU. You can find the mail Ids of professors on the website of the College or University. And than can mail them regarding Internships. Just remember only one thing that do it as early as possible otherwise you will not have any chances of selection.
  • PSU and other Government Sectors: If you want to do your Internships from PSUs like ISRO, DRDO & other Government Organization than visit their site frequently and if you find the link of Summer Training than fill the form. They select very few candidates so make sure that you have a decent academics record that can help you in your selection.

Its quite common Dilemma among the ECE Undergraduates. Infact i know some of my seniors who did their M.Tech in different specialization & doing work in some other field. There are so many ideas on which work can be carried out & now a days most of the graduates are working on these ideas. But the important thing here is that  in which field your ardent interest falls . You can start working in any field, You could also have a fantastic idea but if your interest does’t fall in that then you will sabotage it quite easily. Never think that your idea is quite common and any one can steal it . No not at all. Let us suppose For a moment why anyone have not produced yet another google/facebook/apple etc despite we have one of the best programmers all across the world. Because of their unique selling property. Its the quality of your product which anyone can not produce. And you can only bring that quality in your product if you do your work with full interest. So Idea could be anything but make sure that you have lot of interest in that. So when you will work on that idea then it will create the history.  Here i will suggest some of t...
