My Quora answer on I’m a 3rd year ECE student interested in programming and networking. Should I go in for a network admin or embedded software?

Its quite common Dilemma among the ECE Undergraduates. Infact i know some of my seniors who did their M.Tech in different specialization & doing work in some other field. So, first of all its up to you That in which field you want to make your career. I will suggest you if you have ardent interest in any of the field then choose that field. So you can enjoy your work and make significantly growth in your career.
Now here i am providing an comparison between these two on different parameters-
  1. Salary- From salary point of view embedded field (Software Engineer, Developer, Coder ) dominates somewhere over Network administration field (DevOps, Ops, SRE etc). But the difference is not too much. But it is not always certain. Salary also depend upon timing, Location, Personal Skills and much more.

2. Pressure of work:
Network administration Job is somewhere tough than Embedded programmer job. As a network administrator you need to deal with Debugging codes, Security, Networking, user account management some seemingly unconnected skills. While Embedded software engineer job is not as much tough as network administrator job.
3. Research Opportunities: Research Opportunities is so high in Embedded Field compare to Network administrator. You will rarely find some persons who works in Network administration field and attending any Conference but you will find a lot of peoples from embedded field who always indulged himself in Research work & Attend various Conferences.
So these are some of the parameters on which i make a short Comparison between Network Administrator and embedded software engineer. But i will again say make your career in that field in which you will love to work irrespective of all facts.

What are the differences and similarities between CSE and ECE?

“Difference & similarities both are up to the individual that at what extent he want to learn.” I will start here with similarities. See either it’s ECE or CSE both are Considered as one of the best Branches and elected by mostly Top Rankers. Now lets dive and find that what is similar in these two branches- Programming:  It is something that is Common between both the branches. While one might argue that CSE is totally related with programming while ECE is not. So as i said earlier that it is upto the student that how much he want to learn.
