It actually depends on your graduation year. If you are a Sophomore then possibility is that you will be novice in this field until you have not been fascinated in the robotics field from your Childhood.
- For a 1st year student only some basic knowledge will be sufficient. You must have an idea regarding different types of robots & how actually they work. Nothing more. After workshop (It actually depends that what Organizers will teach you) you will be able to make your own small racing robot. I am assuming the condition if they teach you the least level. Otherwise you may also make programming based robots. But it all depends on the level of workshop. You may also learn the wireless robots in the workshops.
- For a 2nd year student it will be required that he must be good in any programming language (Object oriented programming) like C, C++ etc. After attending the workshop you might be able to make robots which perform their functions with the help of Programming. You will be able to make wall climbing robots, Line follower, Racing robots & different types of it. So overall you will be in the good position & can make various types of robots by applying your own logics. You may also be able to make small humanoid robots.
- If a 3rd year student is planning to attend the workshop then either the content level of workshop must be quite high that means they are going to teach you some concepts of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and how you can apply it in real environment or the student have not been serious till his 2nd year if the workshop contents are ordinary. I will not say anything for the letter one. But for former one i would suggest that student must have some basic idea regarding Machine learning & artificial Intelligence. So one should have a sound knowledge in the programming section. Programming languages like C,C++,java, python, scala, julia etc.then only you will be able to understand the concepts.
- I will not say anything for the 4th year student.
Hope it helps.
